A little about the story
Max and his chums, among them stammering Bandy-legs and the restless Touch-and-Go Steve, are packing into the Adirondacks for a holiday at Whispering Pine Lodge. On the way they meet Obed Grimes, an old woodsman whose fur farm and clever contraptions turn the trip into something more than fishing and camping.
Night prowlers, traps, mysterious taps on the cabin wall and a tree that bears strange fruit keep the boys busy, and they soon set about helping Obed with his troubles. A cheerful outdoor story full of woodcraft, campfire talk and boyish teasing.
