A little about the story
Two castaways, a young boy named Ædric and a big, loyal servant called Biggun, are stranded on a sandbank as the tide comes in. So begins a tale of the seventh century, when the Isle of Wight was the last pagan corner of England and the fierce prince Cædwalla fought to win the kingdom of Wessex.
Frank Cowper, a keen yachtsman, knew these waters well, and he fills the story with sailing, sea fights, feasts in Saxon halls and the clash between old gods and the new faith. A rich, unusual historical adventure.
