A little about the story
It is September, and the Bears, the Panthers and the Blues are fighting for the league championship. Young Jimmy Kirkland is a rising star for the Bears, and someone is plotting to make sure his team doesn't win the pennant.
Hugh S. Fullerton was one of the great baseball writers of his day, and his story is full of the inside workings of the professional game, with a touch of mystery and a young hero who plays it straight.
