A little about the story

A thousand miles above Earth, a great space station spins like a wheel of steel. Young Rip Foster has just been commissioned in the Planeteers, the space marines, and his first mission is extraordinary: land on a small grey asteroid made of a rare radioactive metal and ride it back into Earth orbit.

The enemy Connies want the asteroid too, and Rip and his tiny team must hold it against them across the dark reaches of space. Harold L. Goodwin, a science writer, packs the story with clever, carefully worked-out space technology.
