A little about the story
Hal Paine and Chester Crawford are in a Berlin hotel with Hal's mother when war is declared in August 1914. Separated and stranded in enemy territory, the two American boys have to make their way through the German lines.
They reach Belgium in time for the siege of Liège, where they join the defenders and take on dangerous missions. It is the first of the Boy Allies books, and it launched one of the most popular war series for young readers.
