A Campfire Girl’s First Council Fire

A little about the story

Bessie King is worked to the bone by the bitter couple who keep her on their farm. When she is accused of something she did not do, she runs away into the woods, where she meets a group of Camp Fire Girls on their summer camp.

Among them she finds friendship, courage and a new idea of what she might become. Alarms in the night, a piece of bad luck and a friend in need keep the story moving, while the Camp Fire watchword Wo-He-Lo (work, health, love) gives it its heart. This is the first book of Jane L. Stewart's Campfire Girls series.
