A little about the story
When the wild geese come honking back in spring, the medicine man Slow Dog is determined to be the first to shoot one. But a young brave named Hawk Eye has other ideas. So begins a short adventure story set among the Plains peoples before the coming of the settlers.
Hawk Eye and his friend Raven Wing set out together on a journey of hunting, camping and courage. David Cory wrote this simple, fast-moving tale for young readers, and it reflects the views of its time.
