A little about the story

Jack Danvers is a New York boy who is sent West to spend a summer on a ranch in the Rocky Mountains. He learns to ride, rope, hunt and work cattle, and he hears stories from old hunters and trappers.

George Bird Grinnell knew the West well, and the book is full of accurate detail about ranch work, wildlife and the people of the plains. It is a classic of its kind, half adventure and half education.
