A little about the story
What can you make from an empty box? A whole town, it turns out: Boxville, with a circus tent and cages, a zoo, a fire station, a wigwam and fort, a fairy castle, a toy train and a Noah's Ark made from cracker boxes.
Patten Beard shows children step by step how to build all of these with paper, paste and imagination, with photographs of her own models. It's a lovely rainy-day book that still works today.
Things You May Not Know About The Jolly Book of Boxcraft
- Sixty-eight photographs of models made and arranged by the author, plus twenty-three diagrams.
- Boxville is the miniature town shown in the frontispiece.
- A mirror lake. Beard shows how to make a lake for a landscape from a small mirror.
