A little about the story
When her parents die, little Bird O'More is left in the care of country relatives in New England, along with her brother Billy. Her mother was a farm girl who married a penniless artist, and the neighbours have plenty to say about it. Then the will of the eccentric Aunt Jimmy changes everything.
Mabel Osgood Wright, better known for her books about birds and nature, writes about village gossip, country life and an imaginative city child finding her place with a lightness of touch and a good deal of humour.
