A little about the story

Carolyn May arrives in Sunrise Cove dressed in black, carrying a satchel and holding the collar of her homely dog, Prince. Her parents have been lost at sea, and she has come to live with her uncle, Joseph Stagg, a crusty bachelor who keeps the hardware store.

Uncle Joe has no idea what to do with a little girl, but Carolyn's sunny nature works its way into his heart and into the whole village, including a long-standing quarrel with his neighbour Amanda Parlow. A heart-warming story in the tradition of Pollyanna.
