A little about the story
A six-year-old on the Western frontier writes to a newspaper: Will you please tell me if there is a Santa Claus? Papa says not. The editor passes the question to the journalist Jacob Riis, who answers with a true Christmas story.
Riis tells of a journey, a bundle of letters and a grown-up who quietly did Santa's work, and in doing so gives his own answer. It is a short, warm read for the Christmas season.
