A little about the book

Tom Seymour comes home from school to Overton Lodge, and his father makes a deal: he will give Tom any toy whose science Tom can explain. So begins a series of conversations about tops, kites, windmills, balls, see-saws and more, each used to explain the laws of motion, gravity, sound and light.

The village vicar, Mr. Twaddleton, is suspicious of all this science but gets drawn in. John Ayrton Paris, a physician, wrote one of the first books to teach physics through play, and it is still charming.
