A little about the story

A cold November evening in the city, an early grey twilight and a story that begins with an orphan doll: Red-Robin starts in hard times. Its young heroine has little money but a great deal of spirit, and she is soon making friends, mending quarrels and bringing colour into other people's lives.

There is an inheritance, a mysterious newcomer in the woods near a country village and a very Christmassy scene. Jane Abbott wrote warm-hearted stories for girls, and this is one of her best.
