A little about the story
Orphaned as a baby in the Swiss Alps, Rudy grows up a bold mountaineer and the best shot in the valley. He falls in love with Babette, the miller's daughter, and to win her father's consent he climbs a sheer cliff to capture an eaglet from its nest.
But the Ice Maiden, the cold spirit of the glaciers, has claimed Rudy since he was a child. Hans Christian Andersen's long, haunting tale mixes Swiss village life, love and the beauty and danger of the mountains.
