A little about the book
Young David watches men building a house, from digging the cellar with pickaxes to laying the floorboards. He sees how each job is done and learns that every part of a building is the work of skilled people.
William John Hopkins wrote this as a simple school reader that teaches children to admire work and workmanship. It is gentle and practical, and still interesting for curious young readers.
