A little about the story
Nehemiah serves wine at the table of the Persian king in Shushan, the City of Lilies. When he hears that the walls of Jerusalem lie in ruins, he asks the king's permission to go and rebuild them, and sets out on a dangerous mission.
Mrs. O. F. Walton retells the Bible story with vivid historical detail, including Nehemiah's midnight survey of the broken walls. It is a gentle, devotional book for young readers.
